The College Board and ACT have collaborated on new concordance tables to help educators compare SAT and ACT scores. The 2018 tables are now the only official concordance tables between the ACT and the SAT and should be used as the single source of reference when comparing scores on the two tests.

Have you taken the SAT or the ACT and you want to know if you should take the other test? Or maybe you took a practice SAT and you’re wondering what score that translates to on the ACT? There’s a chart for that!
While there’s no guarantee for your score to be similar between the SAT and ACT (after all, they are different tests), if you perform consistently it’s a good prediction of what score to expect. Where the Charts Come FromThese charts were created in 2009 from students who took the test in 2004-2006. Though that was over 10 years ago, the chart remains the best way to connect an SAT score to an ACT score and vice versa. Keep in mind that the SAT has a larger range of scores than the ACT. It is for this reason that the charts have a range of SAT scores that correlate to a single ACT score. The SAT Single Score columns are the best guess of which score in the SAT range you can expect, but the range is more accurate.

Find your composite SAT score (math plus critical reading) and see which composite ACT score you can expect.

For example, if you scored 1140 on the SAT, you’d go to the SAT CR+M column listing for 1130-1160, and you might expect a total ACT score of 25. If you took the optional SAT writing section, use Table 2 by finding your SAT Writing score and aligning it with an ACT English/Writing score.
As you can see, an SAT Writing score of 540 corresponds to a 23 on the ACT English/Writing section.If you have an ACT score that you want to convert to an SAT score, begin with Table 1. Find your total ACT score and compare it to the predicted total SAT score. For example, if you scored a 28 on the ACT, you can expect to score somewhere between 1250-1280 on the SAT. For a more specific guess, check out the third column, which in this case predicts an SAT score of 1260.
To predict an SAT writing score, use Table 2. First, locate your ACT English/Writing score and see which SAT Writing score matches up. If you got a 21 on the ACT English/Writing section, you can expect a score between 480-500 on your SAT writing section. The single score prediction is 490.These charts can be helpful in a variety of situations, but don’t dwell on them. The most important thing is for you to decide which test (or tests) will best show your strengths and, once determined, for you to practice, practice, practice.
