If you use a modeller that emulates the recording signal chain (I use Yamaha THR10), it sounds like you're playing on the damn record. It's awesome.As for syncing TAB, if your goal is to be a musician, you should avoid TAB as much as possible. Use software like Amazing Slowdowner, Capo, Transcribe, AnyTune, etc. To slow the music down so that you can pick it up by ear.

Yes, at first it's slow and painful, but it's absolutely crucial ear training. Players like Guthrie Govan spent years transcribing stuff by ear. All jazz musicians do this.Once you develop your ear, you'll discover that most TAB, even from pay sites, contains errors. You'll also find that you can learn songs much faster by ear than by reading TAB.

You have to use the recording anyway to pickup timing and nuance. With some practice, picking up the notes becomes easy. If you want to be better at improvising and playing with other musicians, ear training is absolutely fundamental, and transcribing recordings by ear is a cornerstone of that training. Anything you would recommend to start training my ear?Pick stuff you like and which sounds like you could probably learn it. There's no point in making it hard on yourself.
