A large overdose of SOMA IS FATAL!!! Again how much I can’t say. The recommended doses per day listed are from 250 mg to 350 mg three times a day and at bedtime. Any more than that is an overdose. Even if your husband took the 250 mg tablets if he took 42 of them THAT IS WAY TOO MUCH and is a medical emergency.

Technically your body should be able to handle more than you are prescribed, but as Cheri mentioned this drug has been all but abandoned due to addiction potential, typically when co-administered with opiates (oxy in your case). The soma has a deceptive action in that you can typically FEEL it for the first hour or two, it fades a bit, and then you think it is gone. But it stays in your system for quite a while, and it stays effective. For this reason, 3 a day is more than sufficient.
Also, it can increase the levels in your bloodstream of your Oxycodone, which lends to the addictive qualities as well as dangerous potential. From my experience, 4 a day was too much, and 3 a day is just right. (I'm a lean 190lbs) My PM will only give me 2 a day now (60) and I practically had to hypnotize my doc to get it. My mistake for deciding to try all of the other relaxers and then switch back.I have to agree that you are 'lucky' getting 90. Please don't take two at a time unless approved by your doctor; it will only make it harder to stick to the 3 a day, and you might be running out well before the end of the month. I would much rather have 3 soma left on the day of my refill, than to be out for a week beforehand!Good luck!JWM.
I was actually searching because I wondered what the recommended max per day is for Soma. I take 4 soma per say. They are 350 mg. Many days thats enough but Lately I've found myelf wondering if my doctor would prescribed 5 a day. Is it safe to take every 4 hours or is that just not enough time in between. Like so many people i have major pain issues. My doc prescribes me immiediate release morphine - max of 60 mg a day.
Until a month ago I was on 120 mg of immiediate release Morphine and 180 mg time released morphine. I also take Relafin daily and Lorazapem, not to mention blood pressure meds. I always have felt the Soma's gave me the most relief. Morphine helped but not much and the itching I get from the Morphine leaves me with little desire to take any more then I absolutely have too. Having cut back on the Morphine I had considered asking my dcotor for a 5th Soma a day.
Reading the replies here I'm thinking I'm lucky to be getting 4 and need to find another method of making my pain level tolerable.
