Spoiler tags are !X kills Y! While I enjoyed DAI on a whole. The combat, the sidequests and the way the main quest progressed were all rather disappointing. The combat is somehow worse than the first 2 games.
Tactical view is unusable. Playing it as a normal ARPG is the best thing to do, of course, but, fucking hell, it's clunky. Majority of sidequests is literally fetchquests without any dialogue.
I'm planning to buy a sparkling engaging RPG, but I'm not sure which one to buy, the Witcher Series looks fantastic but Dragon Age looks like it has a better story, (No, I do not want to buy The Witcher 2 or Dragon Age 2, I want to buy the 1st before I buy the 2nd) So, Choice, THE WITCHER or DRAGON AGE: ORIGINS.
Feels like MMORPG grinding. Quite apt, I suppose, because the combat does feel like something out of an MMORPG.Then, you'd think, ok, I wont bother with sidestuff.
Except you kind of have to, since you need to collect X amount of power to do main quest missions, and power is farmed through doing quests. In all honesty, I did spend close to 80 hours on the game, but, a lot of that was grinding to be able to do the main quests. If this power mechanic wasn't present, I'd have finished much sooner. On the contrary, it has probably the best crafting system of any RPG i ever played, great characters and banter, excellent main hub, a rather enjoyable story (bit predictable though, follows the usual bioware formula) and some REALLY high points (like the quest where you go to the ball), and graphics that are unexpectedly awesome.Witcher 3, I feel a little disappointed in the overall game, but it's still better than DAI. It's more well rounded.
There's no significant weak points like an awful combat system. It's actually pretty good in W3. Bit challenging, but good.I guess the game can be overwhelming at first, there's a LOT of things you can do with your character, and the game just dumps walls of texts on you as soon as you enter menus, so it's easy to forget things, but if you have patience it definitely pays off.I'd give DAI a 7/10, W3, a 9/10 (so far, about 15 hours in).
Dragon Age Origins Vs 2

I put in over 100 hours into Dragon Age, and I would not recommend it. I felt that most of the time I was running around destroying rifts that accomplished nothing, did side quests that were mostly collecting, and when I finally did the main quest, there was very little substance. I obviously did enjoy the game if I kept playing it that long, and I felt the characters and relationships were excellent, the crafting system produced some nice results, and although repetitive, the fighting was quite fun. But, in the end, I feel what really kills these Bioware games is that the 'choices' you make are either good or bad, whereas in the first two Witcher games, the choices you have to make are significantly more complex (and I presume the 3rd game is this way as well). The dragon age has always had excellent character writing and plot. If those things keep your attention, I'd highly suggest DA:I. It's also notably a much stronger game if you've played the previous dragon age series before.Witcher is a bit more standalone and the characters, although well-developed, are not written at the same level of depth as DA:I.
The Witcher 2 Dragon
It's gameplay is slightly better. It's also better if you've played the previous incarnations of the series, but only slightly. Dragon age is a LOT stronger if you've started with origins and gone all the way through DA:2.tl;dr If you've played the previous dragon age games before and enjoyed them, I highly recommend inquisition, you'll love it.If you haven't, Witcher is probably a better standalone choice.
